JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction and guidance of the Manager – Programs & Services and in conjunction with the Nurse Instructor, this position provides assistance to the nurse instructor in the presentation of the Health Care Training educational program.

MAJOR DUTIES PERFORMED

• Provides assistance to the nurse instructor in the classroom, laboratory and clinical setting.
• Serves as delegated instructor as assigned by nurse instructor or supervisor.
• Assists nurse instructor in set-up of the classroom, laboratory and clinical site.
• Assists nurse instructor in maintenance of equipment and supplies used in the program.
• Assists nurse instructor in maintaining accurate and current information on student progress.
• Completes training records (i.e. course record sheet, student skill sheet) as requested.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma, or equivalent.
Must have a valid State of Michigan Practical Nurse License.
One (1) year experience in long-term care and home-health care preferred.
One (1) to two (2) years teaching experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must have knowledge of OBRA requirements for long-term care.
• Must have the ability to effectively demonstrate personal competence in the performance of nursing and related tasks at their level of expertise.
• Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including day or evening classes within the tri-country area.
