Holiday Mail for Heroes Program Overview

It’s that time of year again! The American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes have teamed up for the fourth annual Holiday Mail for Heroes program.

From now until December 10th you are invited to send holiday cards to our American service members, their families, and veterans all over the world. Anyone can send a card and you can send as many as you would like! Please send all cards to

Holiday Mail for Heroes
PO Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD
20791-5456

The deadline for this year is December 10th. Unfortunately, if your cards are not postmarked by December 10th they cannot be delivered. After Pitney Bowes collects and screens the mail received in the PO Box, Red Cross workers deliver holiday greetings to service men and women in their communities. Check out how our uniformed men and women and their families expressed their gratitude for the Holiday Mail program when it delivered cards to Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Donate Today!

Help Our Troops Call Home

  • The "Help Our Troops Call Home" Program allows for the purchase of an AT&T PrePaid Phone Card for deployed U.S. Troops.  The program make sit easy for deployed military members to call home and stay in touch with family and friends.  Hearing a familiar voice is one of the best ways to boost morale and the feeling of well being for our troops.  The program offers phone cards that do not expire and do not add any additional charges or connection fees.
  • Calling cards can be purchased and sent to any service member who is deployed.  To purchase a Prepaid Phone Card, visit www.aafes.com or call 800-527-2345.  American Red Cross deployed staff distributes calling cards to service members in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanastan.

Gifts for the Homefront

  • "Gifts from the Homefront" are gift certificates purchased by friends, families or groups which allow services members to purchase items at PX and BX facilities around the world.  Certificates can be purchased from the Army and Air Force Exchange Service and addressed to a specific service member.  Or certificates can be purchased and addressed to "any service member" and sent to the Red Cross for distribution.  To purchase a gift certificate, log on to www.aafes.com or call 877-770-4438
  • "Gifts from the Homefront" is a safe alternative to traditional care packages that place unnecessary strain on the military mail system or jeopardize security.
  • The American Red Cross distributes the gift certificates through its Armed Forces Emergency Services staff members who are deployed

www.LetsSayThanks.com

  • The holiday season and throughout the year, you can send your thoughts of appreciation to U.S. soldiers through www.letssaythanks.com.  This website, sponsored by the Xerox Corporation allows people throughout the country to write a personalized message on colorful postcards that have been drawn by kids.  The postcards are printed and mailed to deployed forces in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.
